Broadband Advanced Package
onetwenty: I found out that this package is suitable those who want to surf the internet fast. Personally, I think the 384kbps package is better than this one. Not really satisfactory. P1 WiMax is the better shoice.

Leased line
Sep 13th
Wikipedia definition: A leased line is a symmetric telecommunications line connecting two locations.
(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leased_line; taken on 2:52 AM GMT+8, November 19th, 2008)
Leased line is commonly available for business organizations and government agencies. This is because for large organizations, they must rely on a guaranteed, constant speed network connection.
Uses of leased lines
They are mainly used for data (this includes internet) and telephone services.
Difference between leased lines and DSL
Its bandwidth are guaranteed constant all the time. This is very different with the end-user data connection, such as Streamyx broadband, where the speed is on the best effort basis. For the DSL technology, the end-user connection does not come directly from the inter-country network cable. The data are actually rerouted for some times before it reach end-user. Leased line eliminates this bottleneck because the connection is direct form point to point. Leased line alsso doesn’t have a telephone number.
Leased lines in Malaysia
TM offers leased line packages for its business and government customers. The speed varies, but among the popular ones are 8Mbps, 34Mbps, 45Mbps, and 155Mbps. Based on my observation here (click the link to know more), the price gets higher if the place is farther from KL.
For example, the price of a 155Mbps leased line in Kangar, Perlis will cost you RM 2,520,600 per annum while it costs just RM 900,000 per annum in Damansara, KL. The cheapest package on the table is 8Mbps leased line in Damansara, which sets you RM 233,400 per anuum.
Why is is so expensive?
The cost of implementing it is exorbitant actually. Let’s say you want to use the North-South Expressway of PLUS, then you have to pay toll charges. Despite that, you still have to use the highway along with other motorists.
But how about if you don’t want to SHARE the road with other road users? Definitely, you have to bear all the costs by your own.
The same happens to the leased line. That is why, leased line offers GUARANTEED bandwidth.
